The Faison School for Autism held Art for Autism, the 9th annual auction of art, travel, entertainment and golf benefiting The Faison School for Autism on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 6:00pm at the Try-Me Warehouse on Main Street.

The first event to be held in the new space of Pam and Bill Royall, the Try-Me Warehouse was the perfect setting for the evening's festivities.  Greeting guests at the door was the adorable little Yorkshire Terrier up for auction that evening, Faison.  As those in attendance mingled and dined on innovative food stations by Imperial Catering bidding began on the silent auction items.  An American Girl doll with desk to a weekend stay in Hot Springs, VA were just some of the many silent auction items up for bidding.

As the silent auction closed, Chairman of Markel Alan Kirshner welcomed the guests and presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Bev Reynolds of Reynolds Gallery.  Kirshner commended Reynolds who has been involved in the planning of the fundraising gala for The Faison School for Autism for the last 9 years and called to attention how much the Gala has evolved thanks to her.

Kirshner then followed by introducing and thanking Pam and Bill Royall for use of their Try-Me Warehouse for the evenings event.   The presentations ended with an emotional speech by parents of a student at The Faison School for Autism, Suzanne and Kevin Burger whose son Hunter is autistic.  Hunter has been enrolled at The Faison School for the last six years.  In discussing the changes her son has made in the last six years, she talked about the joy, hope and promise they now have because of The Faison School and how much it has benefited Hunter and their family.  She thanked everyone for supporting the children of The Faison School and their families.

After the exciting live auction ended the Capitol Steps took to the stage to entertain for the remainder of the evening.
