The Central Virginia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society held their twenty fourth annual Dinner of Champions, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Jefferson Hotel.
The evening began with a cocktail reception in the rotunda of the Jefferson Hotel followed by a sit down dinner. Sharon Baldacci, one of the speakers for the evening, talked about her personal plight with MS while raising two boys. Discussing how, if she had not had MS, she might never have decided to have children and instead focus on her career in Journalism.
Peter Bernard, Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Richmond Health System was the honoree of the evening. Bernard joined Bon Secours in 2001 and manages all healthcare business of the Bon Secours Health System to achieve targeted mission objectives, financial performance, maximize market position and provide outstanding customer service.
The evening closed with a video presentation of individuals who are either afflicted with MS or who have loved ones who suffer with the disease and how the local chapters of the National MS Society can help and support these individuals and their families.
The Central Virginia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis is dedicated to providing services and programs for the 3,500 people and their 10,000 family members in central Virginia living with MS. The MS Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS.
