The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia held their 12th Annual Celestial Ball on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Science Museum of Virginia.

The Science Museum's white tent was the location for the evenings festivities.  Guests arrived and were met with butlered hors d'oeuvres and background music, as they browsed and bid on an array of silent auction items.

The sit down dinner began with a video presentation of Debbie Johnson, President of Care Advantage followed by Karen Webb, President and CEO of The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia.  In Webb's video presentation she discussed The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the number of wishes the Foundation is able to grant a year.

Juan Conde, News Anchor of WRIC TV8 opened the live presentation with welcome remarks. Antipicatipation grew as Webb began to explain the indept guidelines on how the Foundation grants its wishes.  Juan Conde then asked Rachel Elliott, a 6th grader at Tuckahoe Middle School to approach the stage and presented her with the Special Celebration of Wishes award.  Elliott overwhelmed with joy explained to the crowd her wish, which was to plan a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, hoping to raise money so other sick children may be granted their wishes. With soccer being Rachel's favorite sport, Chip Tarkenton of WRIC TV8 explained via video how he and Rob Ukrops were going to work with Rachel to make her wish will come true.

The evening's festivities continued with music by Liquid Pleasure.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strenght and joy.
