The Greater Richmond ARC's held their "A Round of Good" Annual Benefit Golf Tournament, sponsored by Wyeth on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Richmond Country Club.
Approximately 130 people participated in the event to raise money for the Greater Richmond ARC. The players enjoyed their box lunches as they gathered their teams together and listened to the welcome remarks and rules of the day from Matthew Schultz and Scott Denicourt. With bright sunshine the golfers began the tournament with a shotgun start at 12:00pm.
At approximately 4:30pm, with a bag piper playing in the background, the golfers returned to the club house to enjoy a buffet dinner, auction and to claim raffle prizes. The group was welcomed by ARC's Board of Directors Vice Chair, Paul Miller who thanked sponsors and introduced emcee for the auction, NBC12's Jamie Scavotto. Some auction items up for grap were four tickets to the Virginia Tech/Boston College football game (with hotel), a Buffalo Bills signed football by Jim Kelley and a round of golf for four at Pinehurst Resort.
The day came to a close with prizes being announced for the winners of the day in the Golf Tournament as well as the Putting Contest, 50/50 "On the Green" Raffle, Hole in One Prizes, Closest to the Pin and Ladies and Men Long Drives.
The Greater Richmond ARC serves more than 1200 individuals and their families each year through a variety of programs and services that range from preparation of young children, teens and adults for independent living and skill development, to recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages in the greater Richmond community.
