Fetch a Cure held the 2nd Annual Pups on Parade Gala and Live Auction on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Science Museum of Virginia The rain cleared and the evening was beautiful as guests arrived, checked in and walked the green carpet. The event, held in the white tents located on the side of the Science Museum, served as the location for the evening's festivities. Those that arrived with their canines were able to escort them into the party or have them enjoy the fenced in play area outside, as well as the companionship of other four legged friends. Gourmet Hors D'oeuvres and refreshments were provided by various Richmond restaurants and stores, such as Weezie's, Kitchen 64, Whole Foods, Millies and Grayhaven Winery. While feasting, guests were also able to view and bid on silent auction items and browse and shop various vendor tables. "Recycled Rovers" made of twisted and woven newspaper and sporting a wooden nose and eyes were available for purchasing, as well FETCH a Cure t-shirts and jewelry by Artistic Creations. The live auction began with travel packages to such places as Virginia Beach and Charleston, SC. Ryan Traylor, co-founder of FETCH a Cure and Joanne Silverman, Director of FETCH a Cure followed with welcome remarks and introductions. Master of Ceremonies, Greg McQuade of CBS 6 and gala co-chair Bill Hall presented the Inspiration Award to Buster Brown and the Alligood Family and The Knowledge & Awareness Award to Dr. Anke Langebach Owner and Chief Surgeon of Veterinary Surgical Center.
