The Richmond Animal League held the Woofstock Festival on Saturday, May 30, 2009 beginning at 9:30am on Monument Avenue between Lombardy and Allen Streets. The festival was a day filled with fun activities for the animals and their owners. The "Strut Your Mutt" Walk kicked off the morning at 9:30am and was followed by the PetSmart Doggie Fashion Show, Richmond Animal League Parade of Alumni, a costume and doggie dance contest and entertainment by DJ Howard Harper and headlining band Chris Adams. The event was estimated to attract 3,000-5,000 people. Aside from the activities available for the dogs, those in attendance were able to choose from 4 different food vendors, visit with 35 businesses and 14 rescue organizations. The event is the largest adoption event in Richmond. All proceeds from the event go to support the work of the Richmond Animal League.
